Butcombe Brunel IPA, a speciality ale brewed in Wrington, Bristol, is now available at Tesco stores having beaten off stiff competition to win the regional Tesco Drinks Awards competition.

First prize in this local heat of the competition was the chance for the winning beer to appear on the shelves of the region’s Tesco stores. Like the beers it beat to win, Butcombe Brunel IPA has never before been listed in a supermarket, and is produced by a local brewer.

The beer was specially created in 2006 as part of the bicentennial celebrations of the life and work of Isambard Kingdom Brunel, the British engineer, best known for creating the Great Western Railway. An authentic IPA at 5% abv, Butcombe Brunel IPA is now available in bottles in most Tesco stores throughout the South West – making it more widely available than ever before.

On the nose, it is distinctly malty infused with a Golding’s hop character. On the palate, it’s dry, hoppy and full-bodied with a bittersweet finish.
